NBC has picked up "Chicago PD," a spinoff of "Chicago Fire," the network announced Friday. Rumors first started flying that a "Chicago Fire" spinoff was in the works at NBC in March. Check out NBC's description of the show below: "District 21 of the Chicago Police Department is made up of two distinctly different groups. There are the uniformed cops who patrol the beat and go head to head with the city’s street crimes. And there’s the Intelligence Unit, the team that combats the city’s major offenses – organized crime, drug traffi cking, high profile murders and beyond.
Leading the Intelligence team is Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), a man not against skirting the law in the pursuit of justice. Demanding and tough, only those who can take the heat survive under Voight’s command. Take Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) – despite his troubled history with his boss, Dawson has ambitions of running the unit… so if that means facing off against Voight every day, he’ll persevere. From the street cops with dreams of moving up to the elite crew who are already in, “life on the job” is a daily challenge. The enormous responsibilities that come with the territory take an emotional toll, as we’ll f nd when we follow the personal lives of our characters outside the walls of District 21. From Emmy®-winning producer Dick Wolf and the team behind “Chicago Fire” comes Chicago PD, a gripping, character-driven new police drama about those who put it all on the line to serve and protect."www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/10/chicago-pd-spinoff-nbc_n_3254388.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000003Will you watch Chicago PD??

I like the spinoff to CPD. I think Jon Seda, the guy who plays Voght and Clint Eastwood's kid can pull this off. However, why wait until midseason? They are "backdoor piloting" it on the season finale of CF but it did not make NBC's fall sched. My guess is the following will occur. The Ironsides show (seriously Blake Underwood as Raymond Burr) will fail and CPD will take its slot and, hopefully, be helped by an SVU lead in. Just my guess. Personally, I wouldn't have minded a CPD / CF back to back situation on Tuesdays but then again, nobody asked me.

First of all, I have a real lack of respect and trust for Voight and do not see how his past career conduct would land him in a leadership position. I also don't like the term 'Intelligence Unit', but I am being really critical. I guess the writers or whoever, have forgiven Voight for his corrupt dealings, and what he did to Casey etc. I just have not, and would maybe watch an episode to see Detective Dawson. I do think he is a good police officer. My fav police show finished it's final season this past year (It was Flashpoint), so I don't watch any others. I really do love Chicago Fire, and maybe if by some miracle Voight is transformed into an honest cop, I could have a new fav Police show...or not. I am happy that the success of Chicago Fire not only brought them back for a new season, but will give some of the CF Police Officer cast a show of 'their own'.

After getting a glimpse on Chicago PD with last night's episode I'll definitely watch this show. What I don't understand - as wrightso already said - why midseason? But ok, I can't do anything else than accept it xD
